We all have our ways of playing online; camping, knifing, noob tubing, run-n-gun, whatever. I know I’m not the only one who gets frustrated with certain individuals and their style of play add that to the random lobby with lag and you’d probably have thrown your controller at least once as well. After matches I sometimes get messages from folks I played with, some are usually friend invites but others are filled with so much humor it’s not even funny. I usually delete those kinds of messages but this one really takes the cake, lol.

It’s funny because I honestly don’t even know how to do a lag spike.  Hell, I don’t even know how to get into those modded lobbies that are floating around. Besides, I like that I can connect online and play with friends not having my PS3 banned from connecting to the PSN. My connection for that specific match was full bars, all green, while one of the folks from my team was lagging like no tomorrow. To think that my style of play pissed someone off so much that they felt a message was required amuses me to no end.

plus Famas with Red Dot isn’t exactly a camping friendly load out if you ask me.

As you know from the first Dead Space, Issac has escaped from a ship called the USG Ishimura and is now in a hospital at Titan Station. Then to your surprise (not really) Titan Station is also infested with monsters. Yes, escape a ship filled with necromorphs only to wake up to a WHOLE city station filled with necromorphs, awesome. About halfway or so through chapter 1 you’ll find out why this is so, mankind just loves to seek its own destruction =D Anyways, despite what that video shows, the game itself is actually filled with scares and i’ve already paused and screamed a couple of times. Will be trying the multiplayer after i’m through with the story, other then that, let’s go through the goodies from the Collector’s Edition!

The box itself has some shiny foil quality to it, the CE PS3 version includes Dead Space: Extraction, which was first released on the Wii this time with Move compatibility. More goodies included the mini Plasma Cutter, modeled after the version used in Dead Space 2. When i say mini, it actually is as the entire gun is literally the size of my hand. I actually thought the scratches on the Plasma Cutter was caused by it shifting around in it’s own box but upon closer inspection was actually part of the paint job, lol. It uses 2 AAA batteries and as it uses LED lights can be kind of blinding if accidentally (or not, lol) shined into one’s eye. CE also includes an OST (which i’ve yet to listen to) as well as lithograph showing the concept of a necromorph transformation. The lithograph made up for the lack of artwork on the inside slip cover. Not shown is the piece of paper with a one time use code to use in the PSN to obtain the Zealot Suit and Zealot Force Gun in-game items.

Picked up my Collector’s Edition of Little Big Planet 2 last Tuesday.  Let’s unbox it =D

At first glance the bookends looked like they were made of cardboard which earned a ‘wtf?’ from me. Though upon closer inspection it wasn’t and it was actually made with nice sturdy material. It’s cute, though i really have no books to put between them, lol

The DLC of extra costumes and PSN goodies (which in my opinion, was what made the CE worth it) was a good welcome from the regular costumes picked up in the game. It was great to see that costumes earned/created in the first LBP was able to transfer over, same goes for the user created levels.

I was really looking forward to the 7in Sackboy plush. When i finally got it, to my disappointment, it was one of the regular ones sold at the Gamestop. Was i the only one thinking that it would be of better quality? Oh well, it’s not so bad. It goes will with the Raiho plush i got from Devil Summoners <3

Extra note, it was nice to see artwork on the other side of the slip cover. I think it’s a shame that companies don’t take advantage of the fact that the PS3 case is transparent. Some extra artwork would be much appreciated, though that’s probably just me.

Dead Space 2 tomorrow! can’t wait for it!

Most of the snow from the last snow storm hasn’t completely melted, at least in the area where i live. i’m sure the streets in Manhattan are being cleaned as the snow falls. The huge snow flakes falling this time around makes me feel like i’m inside a snow globe. at least this time around my car isn’t being buried! <3

Surely, you’ve heard of the “Snowfall (that) wreaks havoc on East Coast”

Woke up this morning wondering if I had classes and as I checked the school’s website, I found out that all classes were canceled.  What’d I do? Go back to sleep of course! Woke back up in the afternoon and decided to take some shots from the 2nd floor window. Went out to play a bit in the snow and decided to bury my little brother in some snow. Not to be the bad guy but he volunteered for it, I just gave my assistance. Came back in to warm up and watch some Criminal Minds for a few hours before deciding to come back out and take more pictures. Shoveled some snow but as time went on, found out it was futile as moments later I’d find the same spot buried in snow again. So this time though I went sledding with my little brother since the driveway was covered in snow and it was a down slope towards the streets. Stuck a ruler into the snow to measure it earlier and it stopped at 27cm, did the same thing in the evening and the ruler completely sank into the snow and it kept going. My poor car, I was not able to successfully dig you out =( Would have better pictures but the camera was not in my hands. Taking pictures at night with no flash is tricky, maybe I’ll talk more about that if anyone is interested. For now, enjoy these pictures.

I guess the good thing about a blurry shot is that i don’t have to pixel-ize my face to show it. Kind of wish I was able to get into Manhattan to take some shots of the city in snow. Maybe next time.

Last week or so, in my Internet and Society class, my professor showed us a segment by Charlie Brooker called “News Swipe”. It was an interesting little thing, hilarious and dead on about how news is reported. If you’d like to watch it go here. I liked the segment so I decided to search for more and found another segment called “Game Swipe”. Watching it reminded me of a class I took a few semesters ago called Concepts in Gaming. Thought it would be pretty cool to share it with the professor for that class, she liked it and decided to show it to her current group of students in the Gaming class. I thought it would’ve been a helpful clip to watch since it talks about different genres, concepts implemented, and how games are shown through the media. Usually non-existant or in a negative light. The segment touches upon several popular games and show no console discrimination. Yes, share the console love! I own all 3 so I can say that, lol

1/23 went to West Point, NY for a fencing competition with my college. I’ve been doing this for 4 years and waking up at 5AM to meet with the team for morning competitions is still something I’m not used to. Last visit to West Point the competition took place at their ballroom, it had a balcony with the most amazing view…the best part of last year’s visit was that it snowed. Making the amazing view just all the more beautiful. I’ll post up a panoramic of the picture I took last year when I dive into my HDD to clean it out. That doesn’t mean the trip up to West Point wasn’t filled with nice scenery.

It’s during breaks where I would readjust they way I fence and music usually helps me get into the right mid set.
For those who have heard this, the song isn’t exactly one of those “let’s get pumped up!!” type of tunes. Songs like this keeps me level headed and reminds me not to get cocky. Though, “Star Line” can be playing one second and then “Pleather for Breakfast” next, which usually takes me out of a level headed mind. As such is the contradictory of that 5 song playlist, and it gets me through a competition.

Side Note: “Pleather for Breakfast” is a track from the game No More Heroes and can be heard at the Level 2 ranking battle against Bad Girl.

It doesn’t hinder the enjoyment of the game overall but it’s kind of frustrating at beginning when picking up new items and you get a moment of loading in the middle of battle. Will get back when i actually finish the game, or when some other news and whatnot catches my eye =)

Side Notes:

- Bayonetta is really sexed out, the most ridiculus crotch/ass shots can and will probably be made in future cut scenes, lol.
- The opening piano rift in the “Let’s Dance, Boys!” track is amazing <3
